Don't ignore the bullying- it may get worse and it's very unlikely to go away by itself. You must do something about it, may it be talking to a responsible adult, or telling a teacher.

If you are being bullied, here are some things you shouldn't do:

  • Don't try to retaliate physically (hit, kick etc.) or abusively- it will only get you hurt and into trouble.
  • Ask for someone for help- there's nothing wrong with it. Don't try to take it head-on and deal with it yourself. You will get nothing out of it and it might become worse.
  • When something has happened, always tell the truth. Don't exaggerate or make it any bigger than it were. If a part of your story is found to be untrue, then the rest is put into doubt, making it only harder for yourself to rid yourself of the bully.
  • Being a bystander is still a form of bullying, and sometimes it can be even worse. Part of the fun a bully experiences is from the reaction of bystanders. It can be really hard to not join in, especially when it's your friends who are the bullies. If you don't do something about it, especially if you're a bystander, then the bully might think you approve of his/her unruly behaviour. Even if you don't join in when you witness bullying, you may still be playing a part. If you happen to be a bystander or a witness to someone being bullied tell someone immediately and don't join in or ignore it.
